Traitor Aloha is a local neighborhood based food/ag startup focusing energies on food security and waste/nutrient management -- cradle to cradle approach.
We source imperfect/abundant produce from local farms and home gardens around each island hub. We will repackage similar to Trader Joes and sell them as mystery/csa/farm/food boxes for the community at deep discounted rates. We accept donations and will pay discounted rates for less than A+ product. The goal is win-win-win.
Gonna start with dry goods/snacks/fruits/veggies that are more resilient. Think citrus, nuts, bananas, tropical fruit. Adopt the Grocery Outlet model but dwindle it down for local logistics and scale. Foraging is sourcing.
A majority of the businesses on island focuses their dollars on tourist, but limited startups are focusing their efforts on feeding local communities besides soup kitchens/low income food banks.
Traitor Aloha will be operating under a Shopify account that sells mystery snack/food boxes. Local paid advertising, but rely on basic coconut wireless technology to spread the mission. Word of mouth here works faster than the internet. It will the most affordable and the best quality local product. Retail pricing is for the tourists. Local pricing is for the people. Deliver locally, old school style, know your customers. Start small with 10 customers, then grow it to 100, then test the model for 1000.
Everything is up-cycled, sourced locally, grow the biz without GMO style funding, limit waste and savings will passed onto customer. T/A earns a small transaction fee based profit by connecting farmers, snack manufacturers, to local buyers who are open to receiving random boxes of good food for a good deal — while limiting food waste to our landfills.
We are practicing these values already but it’s inefficient for modern times. The neighborhood will ultimately benefit from this program. Save money on food, nutrient diversification, invest the difference, generate wealth, preserve local values and community.
